The importance of a staycation is: To enjoy your home surroundings and discover new moments in your own city and away from your every day life. Vancouver, is such an incredible city with a huge influx of tourists especially during summer. My guess is the rain keeps a few of them away in the winter. But, now is the perfect time to visit the city and its surroundings. For the ultimate spa cation in the midst of a metropolitan city stay at the ShangriLa. Its like a little oasis with all the perks of a relaxing get away but only a door away from experiencing Vancouver’s busy city life. I staycationed with my dad at the hotel. I love hotel bathtubs and this one is no different, the marble walls and the views of the city streets while cozy soaking in some L’Occtaine infused bubbles. YES, I wish I could soak in there on the daily. My Dad and I are pretty intense about our work out schedules. Well him more so then me, but he inspires me to get up and hit the gym so that we did, as well as hit the local cycle club Eastwood Cycle for a quick spin in midst of our day wandering the city. The key to a good relaxing staycation as well as being a tourist and exploring your home town and taking advantage of the hotels ammenities, like the hot tub and cabanas at the ShangriLa. They make you feel like you are on a far away vacation in the tropics. Love it. Ill be posting a Vancouver city guide soon where I will high light some of my favorite places to go. But in the mean time, wether you live in Vancouver or anywhere else in the world, take the time to be a tourist in your own city and explore the possibilities, you will get a fresh view of your own back yard, it is very humbling! So greatful to be living in such an epic city.
