What opening day in Whistler looks like. Fresh snow, fresh tracks the very first day on the mountain. Freedom to ride granted by my EPIC pass that I have this season.

Opening day in Whistler, 2017
Freedom to play in the snow thanks to my Epic Pass
Crazy excited to have been able to check this off my to-do list. A wildly successful opening day in Whistler! I cant believe how much I have been bouncing back and forth from Summer to Winter. I love that I actually do love beach and the mountain equally. Playing in the snow makes me deeply happy the rush of cold air around my face, the little adrenaline that keeps running through my heart while going down hills and the views are breathtaking, mountain tops, snow covered trees it is actually where my soul feels happy.
I grew up snowboarding. Calling Switzerland home to my youth, snowboarding was basically a right of passage, there was not much else to do in our free time but go climb around on mountain tops. So every Wednesday afternoon and Saturday afternoon we went up the mountain and made up our own tricks, our own runs down trees and just enjoyed snow, friends and being outside!
These memories make every time I know I am heading up the mountain just that much sweeter. I get this little feeling of excitement inside me and have no problem getting up at 6am in the dark, cold and sometimes rain, to spend the day outside on a board. Spending opening day in perfect conditions this year felt like it was a little holiday gift wrapped in snow, both Galen and I needed a bit of fresh air running through our brain. We packed the car with all things Burton and enjoyed every second of the 2 meters of fresh powder we got to play on. This is the most naturaly staged blog post I have posted in a while, it actually just represents our day on Whistler. Random stops to snap, moments of lying in the snow just breathing in gratitude. Memories made that day are all on Galen’s new film camera, which I am equally as smitten with as I am with my seasons pass to the snow this season.
All we did all day was ride, laugh, discover how soft falling in powder felt and hopefully it set a trend this season of a lot of playing in the snow together and just a lot of snow period.
