Redefining design and culture in the Swiss Ski resort Laax. So excited to get to share the most unique swiss mountain experience I have had to date.

Book your stay at Riders Hotel in LAAX

This hotel uniquely redefines the design and culture of a Swiss winter resort experience. It has the vibe of a boutique designer hotel, but still remains aligned with the the Swiss alpine experience you’d expect. Riders Hotel just re-opened this winter in LAAX – one of Switzerland’s leading winter sport destinations – and had already gained the reputation of the new hotspot to stay, play and eat. If you love a view of snow-covered trees when you open your eyes in the morning, from a room that has just the right amount of minimal design, this is definitely the place for your weekend trip to the mountains.

The vibe of this new hotel doesn’t just include snowy views, but also gives you the feeling of sleeping in a giant house surrounded by friends and like-minded people, who are most likely hanging out in the lounge downstairs or at the lobby bar. It’s kind of like a trendy grown-up dormitory. And also, if you are into these type of things; the lobby bar is usually stacked with professional snowboarders from around the world, as well as photographers and filmmakers who capture their every move up on the mountain. It’s a creative hub for the pro snowboard community, the up-and-comers and the originals – a place to host clients, having meetings, enjoy drinks and also dance into the wee hours in the underground club downstairs.

A hub that has it all! Sounds amazing – but now, let’s talk about the extras! They also offer a state of the art gym, playroom for kids, a ping pong table AND a beautiful yoga room, where you as hotel guests you are offered complimentary yoga sessions each Tuesday. Love! Since it feels like hanging out with a giant family when you are up here, do not miss the opportunity to dine in their antiquely decorated dining room on Friday and Saturday evenings. They offer a set menu of innovative vegetarian plays on swiss dishes. Yum! Once the word about this gets out, there will be a line-up out the door and a long list of reservations for this dining experience. Mark my words!

I stayed for one night and honestly did not want to leave. I also spent a day on the mountain, obviously not mandatory because the experience in the Riders Hotel is more than enough to satisfy your needs. But of course some turns in fresh powder amongst the Swiss Alps are always a highlight of my Swiss stay. Getting to stay at this hotel and spend some time enjoying dinners, drinks, dancing and rejuvenation beyond just my over-night experience has been such a treat. For my first hotel post in 2018 this one is setting the bar very high!
