Welcome to North of Italy, a place called Ticino.
Waking up to the swiss-italian sunshine in a cabin only accesable by foot, overlooking the beautiful city of Lacorano is pretty much a highlight of 2014. Right after Christmas we drove south to my friends cabin in Tessin and I think the views and vibe of the italian infused culture stole our hearts immediatly. Palm trees and mountains by a lake with beautiful towns filled with little tiny alleys with colorful houses is as characteristic as it gets. I can not even begin with how amazing the food was there, more on that coming soon! We took a drive into one of the valleys to a bridge that was built in roman times out of rocks, with a turquoise river flowing underneath it. Perfect! Right beside it a town that is also built out of rocks and wood, it felt like we traveled back in time it was totally sureal. That day felt like spring, so layering a flannel shirt and my Freepeople wool cardigan was enough to keep my cozy warm in the swiss-italian sunshine, all while 2 hours away there was a complete snow storm happening.
